With COVID I am no longer buying into the idea of some inevitable apocalypse. Years ago, I wrote Paradise Gardens, a corporate dystopia, where the "business estates" take over government and mankind's destiny. It is a dark cautionary tale.

But humans are not the only force on this earth, About every hundred years, nature culls our herd with some plague. Earth is cleansed of human dominance, a cyclical happenstance like much of nature. Take the origins of human illness with this virus. I believe National Geo's article about covid viruses seeking other hosts, after the jungle- forest habitats of small animals vanished

No religious judgement, just the force of nature, though I hope that as vaccination grows, the lethal viruses will become less severe, perhaps a seasonal flu. As a part of nature, humans might do well to look at other ways of living on this planet. Our billionaires (excluding Mr.Gates) seem fixated on escape to colonies elsewhere. Considering the thin atmosphere on Mars, might they build exclusive air rich compounds and go slumming on Earth?  Instead, why don't the rest of us CANCELL THE APOCALYPSE?

Let's begin with a festival of alternative futures in these documentaries, Make a movement, rebuild a nation, a world.  Our founding fathers knew underground movements can surface powerfully. Viva 2022.

U.S. in political chaos? IT CAN'T HAPPEN HERE by Sinclair Lewis, WAYS AND MEANS by Roger Lowenstein : LINCOLN and HIS CABINET & FINANCING of the CIVIL WAR

                                                                  IT CAN'T HAPPEN HERE won the Noble Prize for Sinclair Lewis in 1930s for his postwar dystopia, where the fascist threat isn't external but home-grown.   The book is free at libraries or guttenberg.com.  Local bookstores probably have on "classics" shelves.  Amazon may be cheap and convenient, though never free.
